What Is Happening to My Life?!
Sep. 7th, 2008 | 01:50 pm
Buncha things. I hope you can keep up.
- Last week the center stone from my engagement ring fell out of its setting! I've come to terms with the fact that I'll probably never see it again and am grateful I still have the original ring at least. It'll probably be awhile before we can afford a replacement. (Good Christmas present idea, Dale.) You should have seen me when I first notice it missing though. Talk about freaking out!
- Dale was supposed to be coming home and it's been over a month since that was decided! I hardly ever hear from him on top of it all. I do not like this. I wish I knew what was going on.
- I spent all day with Kim yesterday watching the dreaded anime! *shudder* What's worse is...I liked them. DAMMIT! I am not becoming that person. I REFUSE! But even now I begin to calm down because I don't think I would have enjoyed them if she were not watching them with me. I have no desire to run out and own anything we watched but I do desire finishing them with her.
- I had a dream recently where me and Uschi snuggled a lot, which doesn't make sense on so many levels. For those of you with perverted minds, nothing happened. We just snuggled and fell asleep. Try not to to get jealous Paige.
- My work is taking up a lot of my time. These days I am only able to breeze through livejournal quickly and occasionally drop second-rate responses. The good part is that I'm really enjoying what I'm doing. Even the stuff that I knew would drive me crazy doesn't distract from my enjoyment. I never thought I'd find a career that would make me feel this way. I'm sure I'll become delusioned one day, but right now everything is wonderful. I've been completely set up for success. I have a wonderful and experienced teacher preciding over me who genuinely seems to like me. I have a fantastic and laid back supervisor.
- No matter how well I've been set up, I still won't succeed if I don't get some schoolwork done! I got lesson plans to write. Gotta go!

For reasons beyond my control, I am being forced to turn my live-journal life into a strictly 'friends only' zone. It sucks muchly but can't be helped. Anyhoo, it shouldn't change much because the only people that post here are on my friends list anyway. :)

I got my computer back in one day! How sweet is that! It's got a kickin' new video card and I'm ready to go. Whooo!
*sigh* Who am I kidding? The video card does nothing for me since I'm not much of a PC gamer. It was for my dad, which means he's going to be spending tons of time hogging up the computer. :(

My hubby is going to be home in two weeks! (Or there abouts.) Home for good! How excited am I?! ...Yeesh, I gotta get to cleanin'. You people might want to get used to not seeing as much of me. ;) We're kinda joined at the hip when he's around.
Just a reminder that my computer may be gone tomorrow. If not then, the day after. I'll keep ya'll posted.

Dad took the computer in to get upgraded and the guy called him back saying that the part needed wouldn't be in until Monday, so I had to go pick it back up just so we can do this all over again next week. Watch me complain about nothing.

Stranded Once Again
Jan. 18th, 2007 | 10:15 am
My computer is back at the shop. (I'm typing this from school.) No, there isn't anything wrong with it. It's getting upgraded with a new video card. Super! It should be returned to me on Saturday. We'll see.
Enough of that. Dad and I have been watching my season one of Justice League Unlimited. It's very exciting because I didn't watch most of them when they aired. Shocked? Well, I worked most days the show came on and I'm now of the feeling that, "I'm gonna buy the season anyway so why worry." Terrible of me I know.
It's full of great stuff! They have an episode where members of the League were turned into kids in very bad fanfiction style! lol It was such fun though. Especially lil Wonder Woman hitting on lil Batman and lil Batman being all tough.
There's an episode written by Paul Dini that...anything I say will totally spoil the hilarity so I won't. I'll just say that Batman makes for a great straight man as the J-man already knows. (No, Joker's not in it. Stupid Bat-embargo.)
There's another where Wonder Woman and Bats are giving Superman birthday gifts.
Wonder Woman: "What'd you get him?"
Batman: "He's not the easiest person to shop for."
Wonder Woman: "Bruce, you didn't get him a gift certificate!"
Batman: *indignant* "NO!" *embarrassed* "Cash."
Another has Batman falling from the sky with nothing to save him. (He put forth a valient effort though folks.) He gets on his comm while plummeting toward the ground and calmly as can be says, "I could probably use some air support...since I can't fly...at all...now would be good." lol
And they had a beautiful, gorgeous, unbelievable funny episode featuring Booster Gold. He's upset because he's been assigned crowd control instead of something cool.
Speaking of Booster Gold: He's not dead! OMG! Thank you DC in your benevolence! :')

It's the Fuzz!
Jan. 13th, 2007 | 11:14 am
I live on post. (It's a military thing.) However, I'm too old to be considered a dependent of my parents and so have no military ID card. That means I have to get checked at the gates EVERYDAY! Annoying? Yes, but a small price to pay to feel safe at home.
I was coming toward the gate after work last night when I saw lights flashing from a police car. I approached the gate to find several police cars and watched a guy get cuffed and shoved in the back of one of the cars like the punk that he was! Cool!
Anyone with a warrant out for their arrest or possessing anything incriminating in their car and actually attempts to enter the post is a moron. They scan every driver's license that passes through and search every vehicle. This guy was obviously an idiot.

So Much Writing
Jan. 12th, 2007 | 10:46 am
I'm taking four different English classes this semester which means a lot of essays. Every teacher is saying things like, "It won't be that bad. Just four papers on this and three on that etc, etc." Now multiply that times four and you're in hell. *dies*
I wouldn't be so upset if I didn't think it was going to cut into my own writing, but I imagine it will. I fear being far too burned out to type anymore than I have to. I don't want the joy taken out of writing! *sob*

Things are Fixed and Delivered
Jan. 11th, 2007 | 06:22 pm
My car is officially fixed and back where it belongs. It looks good as new and the work is guaranteed for the life of the car. That makes me feel good cuz I have no idea if they did a good job or not. (I'm car stupid.)
Today I recieved my copy of Red vs Blue season one! Let me tell you, I'm very excited. I think my hubby will really super duper like this show. And that's another stupid DVD added to our extrodinarily stupid DVD collection. YAY!
In other news, I'm bored of school already and I've only been there two days! Tuesdays will be the real killers. I have class from like 8am to 1pm without a break and it's all physical science! Biology I like but physical science? Rocks? I've never found a rock interesting for more than two seconds so how am I supposed to sit through five hours?! ...Well...I do like the sparkly rocks, but then I have a short attention span.

My Sister Meets Japan
Jan. 10th, 2007 | 11:46 am
Two funny stories about my six year old sister's take on Japan:
Story One - She recieved a Hamtaro game for her gameboy this Christmas and accidentally set it to Japanese. (Took me a while to fix since I couldn't read the menus!) She approached me with her problem saying, "OH NO! Amanda! It's in Egyptian!"
Story Two - We have a sister-in-law who loves the Japanese culture. Y'know, the type that has way too much anime and makes sushi for no reason. :) Anyhoo, me and my little sister were in a store and came across some furniture with an oriental feel and she commented that our sister-in-law would like it, "Because she likes that...continent...with the chopsticks."
In other news, I start school today. *sob* I don't know why I can't get my money for nothin' and my chicks for free.

Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(annoyed grunt)cious
Jan. 8th, 2007 | 07:10 pm
They just finished showing one of my favorite Simpsons episodes with a Mary Poppins wannabe. This is the best of all the fabulous songs she sings:
Sherry Bobbins: If there's a task that must be done,
Don't turn your tail and run
Don't pout
Don't sob
Just do a half-assed job...
If...you...cut every corner, it is really not so bad
Everybody does it, even Mom and Dad
If nobody sees it, then nobody gets mad.
Bart: It's the American way!
Sherry Bobbins: The policeman on the beat
Needs some time to rest his feet.
Chief Wiggum: Fighting crime is not my cup of tea.
Sherry Bobbins: And the clerk who runs the store
can charge a little more
for meat...
Apu: For meat...
Sherry Bobbins: And milk...
Apu: And milk...
Both: From 1984...
Shary Bobbins: If you cut every corner, you'll have more time for play
Simpsons: It's the American way!...
I think this is the first time I've used this icon. Neat!

I was at work today and a co-worker had a bag of skittles. I instantly dove on her and asked for some "But only red and purple please." She laughed and gave me a couple. Red and purple are the only ones I like! I can't buy a whole bag of skittles for maybe ten pieces and you can't ask anyone to give you all their red and purples because it's almost everyone's favorites. If they'd develop bags of only red and purple, they'd totally have a buyer out of me. Someone really needs to jump on that.
In further news, I had a bizarre dream last night involving My Little Ponies. In my dream, I was watching a new episode with my little sister when dream castle appeared on screen with tons of generation one ponies I grew up with. I can't tell you how excited my dreamself was. Then it got completely out of canon and pissed me off. It seems to me that dream tv should at least get it right. (Not to self: Stop watching My Little Transformer webisodes. It's messing with your head.)

I think my new Final Fantasy XII game I've been so excited about has a glitch. It will not allow me to change characters when in battle mode and when a character dies no option is given to me to replace it. I hadn't realized this until tonight because so far the game has been easy enough that the issue never game up. Now I'm stuck far enough into the game that I'd really rather not play it all over again and yet I'm afraid I'm going to have to buy a new one and do just that. *sigh* I'm contacting their helpline tomorrow to be positive but I'm very pissed off. I'm not much of a gamer at all but the few games I do enjoy I'd like to be able to finish. Is that too much to ask?

My Christmas
Dec. 26th, 2006 | 09:34 am
It all went very well. I got off of work at 5pm on Christmas Eve and ran off to spend the holiday with my family. We watched various Christmas shows and ate the magic cookie bars I made. When it was bed time for the kids, I took them to computer to see where Santa was via Norad tracking system. Turns out he was in Peru at 10pm. After getting this information, my ninteen year old brother started making noises in a French accent and I went, "I said PERU not Paris, you moron." lol Cookies, milk, and a carrot (for the reindeer) was set out and Dad wrapped up the evening by reading the story of the birth of Jesus as he does every year and then we scooted the kids of to bed.
Then I was up until one in the morning stuffing stockings and assembling toys. Why does Santa have to be such a freakin' perfectionist?! Of course, the kids woke up early at 8am though I suppose they could have woken a lot earlier. They loved their loot.
Around 10pm the rest of the family showed up and we opened presents. Everyone loved what me and my husband got everyone. My six year old sister remembered that stupid fifty dollar pony and freaked which was nice: "It's my favoritest pony ever!" I got my sister and her husband wall scones (y'know, the things that hold candles on the wall) and a decorative wooden box to hide remotes or mail. I got my ninteen year old brother a nice watch and his wife a sushi/tea set. I got my 10 year old brother the Star Wars Lego Two video game. To dad I gave the second volume of the looney tunes collection (because no one will buy him that stuff but me) and to mom a Swarovski crystal fish.
I got a ton of stuff including:
A toaster oven
A food dicer
An omelot maker
A fuzzy sweater and a coat
A memory foam mattress cover
The Brak Show season two
Gargoyles season two
Ask a Ninja DVD set
Superman Returns
Justice League Unlimited
The new Justice League video game
Final Fantasy XII
I'm far too spoiled, but I appreciate all of it very much. Somehow the whole holiday didn't feel quite right though. I'm sure it's because my husband isn't here. I wish I got to 'play' with some of my things today but I must go to work. BLAH! After Christmas sales and all that. I die. While there I shall purchase the book to Final Fantasy XII to assist me on my upcoming quest and none of you will see me for days. lol I kid.
I shall catch up with my LJ friends and all my e-mails as soon as I can. (Sorry ya'll. Family comes first and all that.) Hope you all had a good one!
